I was hunting clearance before I ever built a business around it.
As a kid, I'd spend hours digging through Marshalls and TJ Maxx looking for one brand-name shirt at the right price. That feeling never left me.
I've resold things in the newspaper, parking lots, on platforms like eBay (was featured on their homepage and had the most watched item in the sporting goods category), and websites I built myself. I've imported pallets of products from overseas and put my own logo on them. I've resold high-end handbags and $20,000+ diamond rings. This has been a big part of my life.
Super Unsexy started with hidden clearance.
In 2019, I started showing people clearance prices that weren't obvious on the shelf tag. I called it hidden clearance. One of those early videos took off, and I kept filming inside stores for years.
The goal was simple: show normal people how to find prices most shoppers walk right past.
Then Kathleen and I built Deal Soldier.
Deal Soldier turned the videos into a real community. Members share finds, help each other, and use tools built to find clearance near them.
Turbo Search is the search side of that work. It helps people look for local and online clearance without driving from store to store and hoping they get lucky.
